The Effect Of Participation In Student Organizations And Leadership In Organizations On Effective Interpersonal Communication Abilities: A Case Study at STIE Sutaatmadja

Abstract

Student organizations are an important forum in shaping students’ character, leadership, and social skills. Amidst the demands of dynamic campus life, interpersonal communication is one of the most crucial aspects in determining the success of student organizations. This study aims to analyze how interpersonal communication plays a role in improving the performance of student organizations. Using a qualitative approach through literature study methods, data were collected from various relevant scientific references, such as journals, books, and academic articles. The results of the study show that open, empathetic, and supportive communication between members of the organization can increase mutual trust, strengthen team cohesion, and accelerate the resolution of internal conflicts. Student activeness in the organization has also been shown to be positively correlated with interpersonal communication skills, which also creates an inclusive and productive organizational environment.

Furthermore, this study also highlights the importance of strategies to improve interpersonal communication in student organizations, such as the application of the principles of openness, equality, empathy, supportiveness, and positiveness in every interaction between members. By implementing these five strategies, student organizations can not only increase the active participation of their members, but also encourage the achievement of common goals effectively and efficiently. Therefore, interpersonal communication is not just a means of exchanging information, but the main foundation in building strong synergy between individuals in an organization. This study is expected to be a reference in developing student communication capacity in the context of campus organizations.
